The densities of fiber follicles in the Karakaç, Norduz, and Zom sheep and a comparative analysis

Abstract: This study aimed to determine the densities of fiber follicles in the skin of the Karakaş, Norduz, and Zom sheep breeds and to carry out a comparative analysis between them. The study included a total of 36 animals aged 1-2 years and 3-4 years. Skin samples were obtained through biopsies taken from the right sides of the animals to determine the densities and ratios of the fleece follicles. Examination of these samples revealed that the primary follicle densities of the three sheep breeds (Karakaş, Norduz and … Show more

“…The P follicles are formed first, commonly arranged in trio groups. Densities average 3-5/mm 2 , and each is associated with a sweat gland and arrector muscle (Tänzer, 1926;Carter, 1968;Tuncer et al, 2018). Later, S follicles develop, initially at non-randomly spaced sites in the skin: the secondary original follicles.…”

“…Histological studies make it possible to judge the constitutional and breed affiliation, to carry out a biological assessment of various technologies for keeping animals, to assess the level of productivity, to assess the physical and technological qualities of sheepskins, the age of animals, etc. [8,9,10].…”

“…Thus, when sheep reach the age of 8-9 months, the pigmentation process is suspended in 96% of the hair follicles of sheep wool. Foreign geneticists, such as Ciani (2015), Tuncer (2018) and Jackson (2020), believed that an essential regulatory mechanism controlling the effectiveness of melanocytes in the cells of hair follicles is a change in the ability of the cell to support an internal stable chemical environment (the concentration of certain hormones). Thus, it is necessary to find out how to select a genetically pure breed according to the krimmer properties in the first generation using the method of observations at the stage of maturation of black Karakul sheep.…”
