Abstract: This publication is to announce the database of the Moss Flora of Russia at http://arctoa.ru/Flora/ basa.php. It also explains the strategy and approaches so as to be maximally useful for the publication of the Moss Flora of Russia, a six-volume print edition that was started in 2017. “…Most of the species are typical members of the Boreal and Holarctic bryoflora and endemic taxa were not recorded. According to available data, the known moss flora of Yugyd Va National Park comprises 60% of the entire known moss flora of the Komi Republic (Zheleznova and Shubina 2012), 25.6% of that of Russia (Ivanov et al 2017), 16.3% of that of Europe and 1.5% of that of the world (GBIF.org 2018). In the investigated territory, 17 rare species of mosses that are included in the Red Data Book of the Komi Republic (Taskaev 2009) have been revealed and three of these species ( Stereodon plicatulus , Bryum rutilans and Pseudocalliergon lycopodioides ) are included in the Red Data Book of European Bryophytes (European Committee for the Conservation of Bryophytes (ECCB) 1995).…”

“…Published datasets on moss occurrences in Russia, i.e. Database of Moss Flora of Russia (Ivanov et al 2017), Cryptogamic Russian Information System (CRIS) (Melechin et al 2013) and GBIF (GBIF.org 2018), do not contain information about moss records in the territory of Yugyd Va National Park.…”

“…Another commonly used method for compiling a species' range is dot mapping based on the herbarium data (for example, GBIF, Ivanov et al 2017). This method has evident superiority in accuracy and reliability in installing the points, but it can not guarantee the completeness of cove rage -simply because no territory sufficiently large can be explored in full, and certainty of data for those places, where herbarium specimens have not been collected, will always remain a question (Mateo et al 2011).…”

“…This therefore is one of a few studies of Arctic liverworts that used the information on oil bodies in the identification process and evaluation of taxonomic concept. Specimens are kept in MW, MHA, KPABG and VGBI, specimen voucher information is available in online database of Moss flora of Russia (Ivanov et al, 2017), Moscow Digital Herbarium (Seregin, 2020), Online Herbarium VBGI (liverworts, http:// botsad.ru/herbarium/) and CRIS. Several specimens, collected by Matveyeva, Zanokha and Kannukene in 1970s kept in LE were also added.…”
