The crystal structure of diaquobisacetylacetonatonickel(II)

Abstract: Bullen (1959) has reported the crystal structure of diaquobisacetylacetonatocobalt(II), Co(C5H~02)2.2H20. Cell dimensions and general distribution of intensities in the diffraction patterns indicate that the corresponding nickel compound has essentially the same structure. Because of our interest in the coordination polyhedra of transition metal ions, we have determined the crystal structure of diaquobisacetylacetonatonickel(II).The unit cell has dimensions a=10.954±0-01, b=5.361_+0.006, c=11.245±0.01 A; fl = … Show more

“…diaquobis(acetylacetonato)magnesium, Mg(AA)2(H20)2 (Morosin, 1967), Co(AA)2(H20)2 (Bullen, 1959), and Ni(AA)2(H20)2 (Montgomery & Lingafelter, 1964). In each case, the divalent metal cation is octahedrally coordinated by two fl-diketone ligands and two solvent molecules in a monomeric unit.…”

“…Notable exceptions include the anhydrous bis(acetylacetonato) Co I~, Ni I~ and Zn II complexes which possess oligomeric structures with bridging acac groups. The structures of the trans-diaquabis(acetylacetonato) complexes of both Co II and Ni ~ have been previously described (Bullen, 1959;Montgomery & Lingafelter, 1964) and the preparation of trans-Ni(F6acac)2(H20)2 has been * To whom correspondence should be addressed.…”
