“…The Co atom is tetrahedrally coordinated by N atoms (two denoted N o-from the quinoline ligands and two labelled Ncs-from the isothiocyanate groups).° The Co--N o distances 2.043 (2) and 2.028 (2)A compare well with the corresponding values found in the previously determined tetrahedral structure of Co(CqH7N)2C12 (Goli6 & Mirreva, 1988). The Co--Ncs distances 1.934 (3) and 1-940 (3)/~ are close to those found in the tetrahedrally coordinated complex KzCo(NCS)4.3H20 (Drew & Othman, 1975), and are, as expected, slightly shorter than those observed in octahedrally coordinated compounds (Cano & Garcia-Blanco, 1976;Hartl & Steidl, 1980;Hartl & Briidgam, 1980). The angles in the coordination tetrahedron range from 103.3 (1) to 114.6 (1) °.…”

“…Crystals C retrieved from cocaine hydrochloride and lidocaine hydrochloride monohydrate samples screened via the classic test were determined to be the coordination polymer trans‐ [Co(H 2 O) 2 (SCN) 2 ]·H 2 O. An earlier room temperature structure determination of trans‐ [Co(H 2 O) 2 (SCN) 2 ]·H 2 O was detailed in [22].…”

“…Solid [Co(SCN) 2 ] is brown-yellow in color and a coordination polymer with a bridging Co-SCN motif [21,22]. The dissolution of brown-yellow [Co(SCN) 2 ] in both the classic test (2% w/v cobalt (II) thiocyanate in distilled water) and in Scott's test reagent #1 (1% w/v cobalt (II) thiocyanate in a 1:1 v/v solution of glycerine and 10% v/v acetic acid) results in a pink solution [11,23].…”

“…For Co(NCS) 2 , only a trihydrate with the composition [Co(NCS) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ] • H 2 O is found, in which each Co 2 + cation is octahedrally coordinated by two water molecules, as well as two N-and two S-bonded thiocyanate anions in an all-trans configuration. [18] The Co 2 + cations are linked by single μ-1,3bridging anions into layers, which are separated by additional water solvate molecules (Figure S1). With Cu and Zn hydrates with the composition M(NCS) 2 (H 2 O) 2 (M = Cu, Zn) are reported, in which the copper(II) cations show a square-planar [19] and the zinc(II) cations a tetrahedral coordination (Figure S1).…”

“…With Fe(NCS) 2 and Ni(NCS) 2 , no hydrates are reported in the Cambridge Structural Database or the Inorganic Crystal Structure Database. For Co(NCS) 2 , only a trihydrate with the composition [Co(NCS) 2 (H 2 O) 2 ] ⋅ H 2 O is found, in which each Co 2+ cation is octahedrally coordinated by two water molecules, as well as two N‐ and two S‐bonded thiocyanate anions in an all‐ trans configuration [18] .
