“…Moreover, Amorim (2018) in a study carried out near the Clube Recreativo do Grangeiro, also in the APA of Chapada do Araripe, showed that the orders Araneae, Coleoptera, Hymenoptera, and Isoptera have greater relative abundance among the categories of prey available in the dry and rainy periods. In studies with lizards, birds, and snakes in Chapada do Araripe, a predominance of food from the following categories was also recorded: Isoptera, Coleoptera, and Formicidae (see Ribeiro et al, 2015; Gaiotti et al, 2017; Ferreira-Silva et al, 2019). Such findings lead us to believe that the availability of these resources in this environment may induce high consumption.…”

“…The species is strongly dimorphic, with males in definitive plumage exhibiting white body plumage and a striking red crest and mantle, whereas females and males in predefinitive plumage are green. Araripe manakins consume both fruits and arthropods, although the former are the more critical component of their diets [46]. Females lay clutches of one or two eggs during the rainy season, and nesting success is relatively high (72%) for the Neotropics [47].…”
