The COVID-19 burnout scale: Development and initial validation

Abstract: We developed and validated a self-assessment instrument to measure COVID-19 pandemic-related burnout in the general population. We assessed the psychometric properties of the COVID-19 burnout scale (COVID-19-BS). Exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis identified three factors for the COVID-19-BS; emotional exhaustion, physical exhaustion, and exhaustion due to measures against the COVID-19. Cronbach’ s alpha coefficients for the three factors and the COVID-19-BS ranged from 0.860 to 0.921. Kaiser-Meyer-O… Show more

“…We measured COVID-19-related burnout that participants experience with the COVID-19 burnout scale (COVID-19-BS) [ 36 ]. COVID-19-BS consists of 13 items and comprises three factors: emotional exhaustion, physical exhaustion, and exhaustion due to measures against COVID-19.…”

“…We used the COVID-19 burnout scale (COVID-19-BS) to measure COVID-19-related burnout among cardiac patients. 23 The COVID-19-BS includes 13 items and three factors (i.e., emotional exhaustion, physical exhaustion, and exhaustion due to measures against the COVID-19). Each factor takes values from 1 to 5 with higher values being indicative of higher level of COVID-19-related burnout.…”
