The Correlation of Urethral Pressure Profilometry Data in Women with Different Types of Urinary Incontinence

Abstract: Introduction: The aim of the study was to analyse the correlation of subjective complaints and urethral pressure profilometry (UPP) data in women with different types of urinary incontinence (UI): stress UI (SUI), urgency UI (UUI), and mixed UI (MixUI). Methods: A study group of 405 women with complaints about UI were surveyed (UDI-6; ICIQ-UI) to determine the subjectively dominant type of UI, and UPP was performed for all these women. The variables analysed by UPP were the maximum urethral closure pressure at… Show more

“…There was no standardized normal or SUI reference value for UPP. A non-athlete with SUI reported that her MUCP was 61.0 (43.5-78.5) cmH 2 O [23]; however, MUCP in our case report was lower. Recent studies indicate that intra-abdominal pressure increases to levels exceeding the intraurethral pressure during highmotion sports [24].…”

“…Kuralay Sharipova et al [ 6 ] included 130 patients with urinary incontinence (including 75 patients with simple SUI and 55 patients with simple urgency urinary incontinence). The MUCP of patients with simple SUI was 61.0 (43.5–78.5) cmH2O, significantly lower than 66.0 (52.0–96.0) cmH2O of patients with simple urgency urinary incontinence.…”

“…Women with a lower MUCP have a higher chance of experiencing SUI [25] and it would be interesting to see what influence Urolastic ® has on this parameter.…”
