The conversion of heights of the benchmarks of the detailed vertical reference network into the PL-EVRF2007-NH frame

Abstract: The paper describes the problem of conversion of heights to the European Vertical Reference Frame 2007 for Poland (PL-EVRF2007-NH). The subject of the study is height data, and especially the detailed vertical reference network. The aim of the article is to present an alternative method of conversion to the one recommended by the Polish Head Office of Geodesy and Cartography. The proposed approach is characterised by a low implementation cost while maintaining the required accuracy. The publication is illustrat… Show more

“…In this contribution, kriging/least squares collocation and a simple distance-based interpolation method, i.e., inverse distance weighting have been used. Also, a polynomial trend surface fitting approach was adopted since it is the most obvious and the most common way of approximating spatially varying phenomena (Borowski and Banasik, 2020;Tusat and Mikailsoy, 2018). It was used in combination with the methods mentioned above and played a role of a long wavelength component in height anomalies.…”

“…Poland has a normal altitude system based on a quasi-geoid. Poland has two normal vertical frames based on a quasi-geoid: one with zero point in Amsterdam (PL-EVRF2007-NH), and the second in Kronstadt (PL-KRON86-NH) [97]. The differences among these data change irregularly, from 12 cm to 20 cm, depending on the area [98].…”

“…The Polish Head Office of Geodesy and Cartography (GUGiK) is responsible for the state reference network and recommend the methods of conversion for a detailed network (Somla, 2018). The paper presents those recommendations, analyses advantages and disadvantages (Banasik & Borowski, 2019) and shows an alternative method (Borowski & Banasik, 2020).…”
