The convergence of nano-, bio-, and information technologies in healthcare

Abstract: This chapter describes the nature of revolutionary new health technologies, and their potential application and innovation in health care delivery. It focuses on the challenges that these technologies pose for both business and the health care system. The chapter is especially interesting as its reveals that as soon as a new technology is available on the market, the ‘right’ to the best existing treatment, escaping in many cases all the evidence-based guidelines, acts as a push for technology inception.
