The content of essential and toxic elements in the hair of the mane of the trotter horses depending on their speed

Abstract: A study on the Russian trotting breeds was conducted to assess the impact of horses' sporting results and the degree of accumulation of chemical elements in the hair. In the first phase of the research, the elemental composition of the mane hair of trotter horses (n = 215) was studied. Based on these studies, percentile intervals for the distribution of concentrations of chemical elements in the hair have been established, and the values of 25 and 75 percentile adopted as a "physiological standard" have been d… Show more

“…The method is based on the property of atoms of chemical elements formed by spraying ash solutions into acetylene-air flame to absorb light of a certain wavelength. The research was carried out using an atomic-absorption spectrophotometeran AAS-1-type device with a set of spectral lamps [4].…”

“…Biological approaches offer the potential for highly selective removal of toxic metals combined with considerable operational flexibility; they can be used both in situ and ex situ in different bioreactor configurations. Many of these processes utilize microorganisms, which play a key role in the biogeochemical cycle of toxic metals and radionuclides [3,4].…”

“…Structural, physiological, catalytic, and mechanisms are the most critical [ 1 - 5 ]. Imbalances of trace elements pose a severe threat to the health and productive qualities of farm animals [ 6 ] and poultry [ 7 - 10 ], not only in terms of vital elements but also in toxic ones [ 11 ]. Toxic metals entering the bodies of animals and poultry in excess amounts can weaken the immune system.…”

“…Thus, hair is a more stable analytical matrix, providing a lot of information about a given type of exposure over the years [ 10 , 11 , 12 , 13 , 14 ]. The main advantage of this biological material is its availability, which enables easy, stress-free and non-invasive sampling [ 2 , 3 , 14 , 15 ]. A high concentration of toxic elements in the bodies of livestock may reduce their productivity, performance and metabolism [ 15 , 16 ].…”
