The Consumption Patterns of Korean Native Chicken

Abstract: This study examined how consumer choices (i.e., selecting food safety certified products, health-related products, and familiar brands) affect the purchase of Korean native chicken (KNC) and the demographics that influence KNC purchases using secondary consumer panel data from the Rural Development Administration of Korea. “…백세미는 육용 종계 수컷을 실용산란계와 교잡 하여 생산한 병아리로 일시에 다량 생산이 가능하고 가격이 저렴하며 고온 가열에도 쫄깃한 육질을 지님으로 현재 삼계 탕의 원료육으로 가장 많이 이용되고 있다 (Ahn et al, 2009;Lee et al, 2018). 그러나 백세미의 경우 생산적 측면에서 많은 문제가 있는데 정상적인 품종으로 인정받지 못하고 또한 일반 산란계 농장에서 생산됨에 따라 종계의 방역프로그램이나 위 생관리가 이루어지지 않고 있다 (Park, 2010). 따라서 국내 소 비의 상당 부분을 차지하는 삼계 종자의 정체성이 모호할 뿐 만 아니라 수출에도 커다란 장애 요인이 됨으로 이를 대체할 수 있는 삼계탕용 전용종자의 필요성이 대두되고 있다.…”
