The conserved AAA-ATPase PCH-2 distributes its regulation of meiotic prophase events by remodeling multiple meiotic HORMADs inC. elegans

Abstract: During meiotic prophase, the essential events of pairing, synapsis, and recombination are coordinated with meiotic progression to promote fidelity and prevent aneuploidy. The conserved AAA+ ATPase PCH-2 controls a variety of chromosome behaviors, including coordinating pairing, synapsis and recombination between homologous chromosomes to guarantee crossover assurance and accurate chromosome segregation. However, how PCH-2 accomplishes this coordination is poorly understood. Here, we use a combination of geneti… Show more

“…In Arabidopsis, Pch2 remodels the HORMA domain protein ASY1 (Balboni et al, 2020 ;Yang et al, 2020 ). Pch2 has been shown to localize to synapsed SC in budding yeast (Joshi et al, 2009 ), C. elegans (Deshong et al, 2014 ;Russo et al, 2023 ), Arabidopsis (Lambing et al, 2015 ), and rice (Miao et al, 2013 ), but not in mice. In mouse meiocytes, TRIP13 was known to localize to telomeres (Gomez et al, 2019 ).…”
