The Connections between Ecological Values and Organic Food: Bibliometric Analysis and Systematic Review at the Start of the 21st Century

Abstract: This paper addresses the field of study relating to ecological values and the production, distribution, and consumption of organic food products, aiming to contribute to the consolidation of scientific knowledge in this area of study. This article refers to a bibliographic review in the Web of Science database. It also involves bibliometric analysis of the results of this bibliographic review using the NVivo program. The main results classify the number of articles published on the basis of the methodology use… Show more

“…This justifies the need to introduce systematic studies on consumers aiming to identify their ability to alter behaviors and a context that fosters such a change [37][38][39][40][41]. The understanding of phenomena present in the area of consumption forms the basis to design processes present in food supply chains, thanks to which they will be able to evolve in the direction of more sustainable processes [14,37,[42][43][44][45].…”

“…The analysis of behaviors of consumers, while considering the economy of sustainable development, calls for the analysis of signs of behaviors and their causes [3,4,46]. SFC studies, whose scope has been constantly expanding, show that the consumers' interest in SFC is lower than expected [43,47,48], while the scale of signs is not yet large [49,50]. The latest analyses show that despite the popularity of the idea of sustainable consumption and production, Europeans have not yet learned the concept of sustainable development (SD) well and cannot always identify it, with a marginally small number of the surveyed pointing that it is connected with nutrition [51,52].…”

“…In literature, these tools were popularly used for scientometric analysis. As such, the CiteSpace tool was considered valuable for mapping domains of knowledge and generating illustrative graphical maps [42][43][44]. The VOSviewer aids the construction and visualization of the bibliometric density network from the information (i.e., extracted from the scientific literature) [45][46][47].…”

“…The investigations confirm that the marketing characteristics and properties of organic products have indisputable impact onto the competitive advantages of producers (Mykhaylenko, 2017), their market status and economic efficiency (Dudar, 2019). The discovery of connection between ecological values and production, sale and consumption of organic products has become an urgent scientific problem (Muñoz-Sanchez et al, 2021). Institutional and organizational instruments that influence both domestic and international trade in organic food cannot be considered without overcoming information uncertainty for consumers through food quality labeling, including protected geographical indications (Aitken et al, 2020), which gives overall understanding of food safety and guarantees their protection from unscrupulous manufacturers.…”

“…Thus, in 2019, Ukraine took 2nd place among importers of organic agro-food products to the EU countries, which are one of the world's largest importers of these products, being second only to suppliers from China (Willer et al, 2020). The international prospects of Ukrainian agro-industrial sector look even more convincing if it becomes the object of more active interest from foreign investors (Makhnovets, 2020). Currently, bearing in mind the international comparisons, the investment potential looks huge (Nagachevska et al, 2021).…”
