Abstract:The influence of the excluded volume effect on the configurational contribution to the segmental orientation in network chains is evaluated using rotational isomeric state theory. The chains used are rotational isomeric state models for polyethylene, poly(vinyl bromide), and poly(vinyl chloride), as well as some simplistic models for polyethylene. The long-range interactions may be attractive or repulsive. Chain expansion in response to the excluded volume effect is accompanied by an increase in orientational … Show more
scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
