The configuration management requirements for aviation, space and defense organizations

Abstract: Certification of the quality management system for aviation, space and defense organizations, according to EN 9100: 2016 / AS 9100D standard requires compliance with the configuration management requirements. This article presents the implementation of Configuration management and documents control throughout the entire life cycle of product realization. Configuration management establishes a language of understanding between the client and the supplier both in predefined relationship (such as Built to Print) … Show more

“…Different methods (FMEA, DRBFM etc) need to be applied for any instance of a product or product families, for this reason risk management needs to be used within the context of reusables assets, browsing through the product structure and considering all configured items. Therefore, the risk assessment and control methods need to become fully interoperable with configuration management within PLM as a fully integrated process, method and application [16]. As basis for the method, leveraging the structured nature of PLM product representation, the items in the product structure can be associated to a vector of failures, evaluations and controls, enabling a systematic identification of risks based on the aggregation of the singular items and their associated risk vector.…”

“…Therefore, in order to develop an effective product configuration, Rusu M will first study the project using the product configuration method, and then Rusu M will test the development of agile principle product configuration system and the implemented product configuration project. Qualitative research methods are used for multi-product sample information through seminars and direct observation [3]. Although the existing research on enterprise information product configuration management is very rich, the research on the application of enterprise information product configuration management based on data analysis algorithm is still insufficient.…”

“…Without the insufficient understanding of the data and the appropriate methods for data analysis, the most common results can be detrimental to the company (Pongrac and Majić, 2015). Configuration describes the functional and physical characteristics of existing or planned hardware, firmware, software or a combination there of as set forth in technical documentation and ultimately achieved in a product (Rusu, 2019). Configuration management (CM) is one of eight subprocesses within the crosscutting technical management process for establishing and maintaining consistency of a product's performance, functional, and physical capabilities with its requirements, design, and operational information throughout its life (Stjepandić et al, 2020).…”
