The newest architecture as an information carrier takes on fresh forms. It reflects the flow of information, fits into the environment, and interacts with the external and internal space. As a result, a new boundary area of architectural activity emerges – «quasi-architecture», which is located between architecture and art, architecture and construction, architecture and multimedia space. The purpose of the study is to consider the features of quasi-architecture and the principles of its organization. The main methods of research are logical, complex system-structural and system approaches, which allow studying this phenomenon in the aggregate and the interaction of its individual parts and classifying the features of its development. The dialectical method that includes analysis and synthesis, made it possible to identify the quasi-architecture mainstream’s patterns. The historical-genetic method showed the origins of conceptual trends. The result of the study characterizes the conceptual directions of one mainstream of the newest architecture – «quasi-architecture». Quasi-architecture reflects the imaginary space; it seems to exist and not exist, being on the verge of reality and unreality.

Impacts of Climate Change and Air Pollution on the Tourism Industry: Evidence from Southeast Asia

This paper examines the effects of climate change (greenhouse gas emissions) and air pollution (methane and nitrous oxide emissions) on the tourism industry in Southeast Asian (SEA) countries, using dynamic panel data for the period 1998-2012. A two-stage least squares (2SLS) method is applied by adding an instrumental variable and lagged variables to solve for endogeneity. 2SLS estimation shows that air pollution has a negative effect on total tourist arrivals but there was not enough evidence to reach a conclusion about the impact of climate change. Surprisingly, nitrous oxide emission was the key driver which negatively and significantly affected tourist demand. This emission is largely caused by high levels of fossil fuel consumption and motor vehicle traffic. These findings suggest that governments may need to make critical policy decisions about whether to give up short-term economic growth to pursue long-term environmental improvement, with a view to enhancing the quality of tourist destinations in Southeast Asia in the future.

The contextual reasoning of place and subject dialog from a mimetic point of view has been central to this work. The chapter discusses modern mosque architecture, focusing on the studio project of the second-year students. The goal of each student in the design should be to reach the critical moment by seeing and expressing the spiritual feelings of the user in a place of worship. As designers, students are expected to feel the requirements of context by looking through the eyes of the users of the space, and the educators are expected to help this with the methods used. This chapter is written to convey the methodological details of feeling the context which is defined as contextual reasoning. According to the analysis, three different student approaches emerged at the end of the design process. These are inspired interpretation, imitation by partial interpretation, and exact imitation. In summary, the contextual attitudes that students develop by using the domain sources in a mimetic way help students empathically experience the space even at the superficial level of insideness.
