Introduction: Infertility invokes immense stress, especially in women. Coping skills and characteristics are driven in an adaptive and maladaptive way to deal with the life stressors. The type of characteristic pulled in has a substantial impact on the individual entangled in the life situation. Study was done to know how do they cope with stress. Material and Methods: The present study included a total of 115 female patients who registered in the Gynecology OPD for infertility treatment. 15 were excluded on the basis of Secondary Infertility, Comorbid medical/surgical illness and previous and past history or treatment for Psychiatric diagnoses. They were interviewed on Brief Cope scale, after consent. Questionnaire was explained to them in the language they understood. Data was analyzed using appropriate statistics and software. Result: Highest mean scores was observed for Active Coping. It was followed by engagement in Religious activities and Self Distraction. Analysis between coping skills and various demographic details like Age, Education, Type of Family, Duration of Marriage, Previous treatment taken or not, Duration of ART and Number of ART failures also yielded some statistically significant results. Conclusion: Life stressors invokes imbibed coping skills in response to the situations. Maladaptive patterns usually have negative impacts. It is important to understand the coping patterns in these women to know their maladjustments.

Özİnfertilite bireylerde/çiftlerde biyolojik, psikolojik, sosyo-kültürel, ekonomik ve etik açıdan birçok probleme sebep olmaktadır. Bir kriz durumu olan infertilite, sosyal izolasyona, damgalanmaya, evlilik ilişkilerinde bozulmaya, psikolojik sorunlara ve strese sebep olur. Strese sebep olan durum karşısında bazı baş etme yöntemlerinin kullanılması kabul görmüş bir tutumdur. Bu sebeple infertilite stresiyle baş etmede etkili baş etme yöntemlerinin kullanılması önemlidir. Bu sistematik derlemede infertilite stresi ile baş etmede kullanılan bireysel baş etme yöntemlerini içeren çalışmaların sonuçlarını incelemek amaçlanmıştır. Sistematik derlemeye dâhil etme kriterleri; infertilite stresiyle bireysel baş etme yöntemlerini inceleyen çalışma olması, araştırma makalesi [nicel/nitel] olması, yayın dilinin İngilizce olması, son beş yılda yayınlanan araştırma olması, tam metnine ulaşılabilen ve derleme olmayan çalışma olmasıdır. Derlemeye dâhil etme kriterlerini sağlayan on altı çalışmanın dördü tanımlayıcı, sekizi kesitsel tanımlayıcı, biri ilişki arayıcı, biri nitel, biri ilişki arayıcı ve nitel, biri tanımlayıcı ve derinlemesine görüşme tasarım tipindedir. Çalışmalar incelendiğinde; infertil bireylerin stres ile başa çıkmada çeşitli baş etme yöntemlerini kullandıkları belirlenmiştir. Din ve maneviyata yönelme, sosyal izolasyon, durumu yok sayma ve dikkati başka yöne çekme girişimlerinin en fazla kullanılan yöntemler olduğu sonucuna varılmıştır. Sağlık bakım vericileri infertil bireyleri/çiftleri bütünsel bir yaklaşımla değerlendirmeli ve infertilite stresiyle baş etmelerine yardımcı olacak bir yaklaşımda olmalıdır. AbstractInfertility causes many problems in biological, psychosocial, economic, ethical and cultural issues in individuals/couples. Infertility, which is a crisis situation, causes social isolation, stigmatization, deterioration in marital relations, psychological problems and stress. The use of some coping methods in the face of stress is accepted. Therefore, it is important to use effective coping methods to cope with infertility stress. In this systematic review, it was aimed to examine the results of the studies including individual coping methods used to cope with infertility stress. Inclusion criteria in systematic review; The purpose of this study is studying the individual coping methods with infertility stress, having a research paper [quantitative/qualitative], having a publication language in English and a research published in the last five years and also to be able to reach the full text and not to compile. Four of the sixteen studies that included the inclusion criteria in the review were descriptive, eight were cross-sectional descriptors, one was relational, one was qualitative, one was relational and one was qualitative, one was descriptive and one was in-depth interview design.
