The Comparision of Sensorless Estimation Techniques for PMSM between Extended Kalman Filter and Flux-linkage Observer

Abstract: This paper compares two main sensorless control techniques for permanent magnet synchronous motors (PMSM): Flux-linkage observer (FLO) and Extended Kalman Filter(EKF). This paper investigates experimentally five aspects via FLO and EKF: the error of estimated position, speed response, variable speed tuning , the ability of speed zero crossing and convergence in the estimation for position transition in four-quadrants.
