The compact Erlangen Active Simulator for Interventional Endoscopy: a prospective comparison in structured team‐training courses on ‘endoscopic hemostasis’ for doctors and nurses to the ‘Endo‐Trainer’ model

Abstract: Both simulators (Endo-Trainer, compactEASIE) are excellent educational tools for interventional endoscopy with a high level of acceptance. The easy-to-handle, "lightweight" compactEASIE is a significant, progress tool for the future.

“…Another study compared 2 variants of ex vivo models, and suggested that the newer, compact, lighter version, Compact Erlangen Active Simulator for Interventional Endoscopy (compactEASIE; Erlangen, Germany) was superior to the older Erlanger Endo-Trainer in helping with conceptual understanding. 31 An additional comparative effectiveness study identified through an updated search reported no significant difference between colonoscopy skills acquired through training on high-fidelity, virtual-reality simulation and a low-fidelity, part-task trainer (Supplementary Results).…”

“…Systems of the first type are based on a computer-generated virtual reality [6][7][8] that allows for sensory interaction [9] and provides trainees real-life surgical abilities without subjecting them to the stress of traumatizing a patient. These systems intrinsically offer evaluation methods in the form of games, simple tasks, or complete virtual surgeries with tactile realism.…”
