The combination of plasma fibrinogen and neutrophil lymphocyte ratio (F‐NLR) is a predictive factor in patients with resectable non small cell lung cancer

Abstract: The prognostic value of inflammation indexes in non small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) was not established. Therefore, we assessed the clinical applicability of the F-NLR score, which is based on fibrinogen (F) and the neutrophil-lymphocyte ratio (NLR), and the glasgow prognostic score (GPS) to predict the prognoses of NSCLC patients. We retrospectively identified 515 patients with stage I/II/IIIA who underwent surgery at our institution, and evaluated their preoperative serum levels of CRP, albumin, fibrinogen, n… Show more

“…The present study revealed a strong association between high F-NLR score and larger tumor size, nodal positivity, late TNM stage and lymphovascular invasion for resectable BC. These findings are consistent with the results of previous studies on gastric cancer (28) and NSCLC (27,33). Notably, the F-NLR score was identified as an independent predictor for DFS and OS in the present study, which is consistent with previous studies on various types of cancer (26)(27)(28)(29)(33)(34).…”

“…Research evidence shows that hypoalbuminemia decreased BMI and decreased skeletal muscle volume are all associated with poor prognosis of malignant tumors (12,13). Besides, scoring systems that reflect inflammatory and immune levels constituting the plateletto-lymphocyte ratio (PLR), the prognostic nutritional index (PNI), and the neutrophil-to-lymphocyte ratio (NLR) are closely linked to the clinical outcomes of malignant cancers, including GIST (14)(15)(16)(17).…”

“…Preoperative malnutritional status is also closely related to postoperative survival outcomes in cancer patients [12]. Recently, several studies reported the potential role of novel indicators based on inflammatory and nutritional variables in patients with cancer [13][14][15]. The prognostic nutritional index (PNI), which is calculated from serum albumin level and lymphocyte counts, is one parameters that reflects preoperative nutritional status and has also been validated as an effective prognostic factor in various cancers, including UTUC [12,13].…”
