“…Wu and coworkers utilised this strategy for screening of diamine oxidase and its inhibitors by decorating calixarene derivative (pSC6) capped AuNPs with a charged hexanediamine (HDM) group. 101 here, cationic substrate (HDM) functioned as a coagulant of pSC6-coated AuNPs with anionic sulphite−group surface charges, while oxidised HMD lost one of its charged terminals, thereby preventing aggregation of the AuNPs.…”

“…The aggregation of AuNPs results in a large red-shift of the LSPR peak, accompanied by a characteristic color change from red to blue [24]. Therefore, aggregation-based colorimetric assays have wide-ranging sensing applications in proteins [25], small molecules [26], inorganic ions [27,28], enzyme activities [29], and oligonucleotides [30]. Currently, these colorimetric assays can be divided into two systems: labeled and label-free.…”

“…34 The colorimetric analysis methods based on AuNP aggregation-disaggregation which causes blue-to-red or red-toblue color shi have been widely used in small molecules, 31,35 inorganic ions, 36,37 oligonucleotides, 38 protein 39 detections as well as enzyme activity determination. 40 One of the biggest challenges in designing aggregationdisaggregation recognition systems is nding an appropriate mediator for altering the AuNP surface to reach optimum interparticle crosslinking. Melamine, 26 sulfanilic acid, 41 glutamic acid and polyethyleneimine (dual factionalized strategy) 25 are some of these mediators used in reported colorimetric strategies toward RAC recognition aiming to reach high selectivity and stability.…”
