“…The relevance of CO 2 -EOR has also become more widely recognized, with information from the long history of this activity becoming more widely accessible. Examples of storage projects developed during this decade for which detailed and publically accessible M&V results are available include K12-B (van der Meer et al, 2009K12-B (van der Meer et al, , 2005, Ketzin (Martens et al, 2013;Würdemann et al, 2010), Lacq (Aimard et al, 2007;Prinet et al, 2013) and Snøhvit from Europe, In Salah Mathieson et al, 2010;Ringrose et al, 2013) from Africa, Nagaoka (Kikuta et al, 2005) from Japan, Otway (Cook, 2014;Jenkins et al, 2012) from Australia and a number of US projects: Frio Test (Hovorka et al, 2006), Mountaineer, Cranfield (Hovorka et al, 2013c), Illinois Basin, Decatur (Finley, 2014b), Bell Creek, Michigan pinnacle reefs and other R&D projects under the US Regional Carbon Sequestration Regional Partnership program. In Canada, Aquistore has just begun operations (Worth et al, 2014).…”

“…In Germany, Ketzin became a major European CO 2 storage test site in 2008, injecting 60kt CO 2 at about 650m depth into a shallow saline formation [12]. Since 2010, the TOTAL Lacq Project has injected 75kt of CO 2 from oxyfuel combustion 4,500m into an onshore depleted natural gas field [13]. A key objective of these many test projects is to perform research experiments and develop the necessary expertise for commercial upscaling.…”

“…An overview of the location of active and proposed projects is given in Figure 3 [10]. A wide range of numerous small CCS pilot and demonstration projects of < 100 ktpa have been implemented globally over the past 10+ years [11][12] [13]. These include the Otway Project in Victoria (Australia) where a total of 70kt CO 2 has been injected at a depth of 2000m into the Waarre-C Formation, a sandstone depleted gas reservoir [11].…”

“…That's why the communication and general public acceptance are very important in CO 2 storage context. A variety of promising techniques have been identified and many have been incorporated into monitoring approaches deployed at existing pilot sites such as Weyburn (Whittaker, 2004), Frio (Hovorka et al, 2006) and Rousse (Aimard et al, 2009).…”
