The clinical significance of apolipoprotein L1 in head and neck squamous cell carcinoma

Abstract: Approximately 500,000 new head and neck squamous cell carcinoma (HNSCC) cases are detected every year around the world, and its incidence ranks sixth among all cancer types globally. Among these cases, oral squamous cell carcinoma (OSCC) and laryngeal squamous cell carcinoma (LSCC) are HNSCC subtypes with high incidence rates, especially in China. The present study examines the association between the apolipoprotein L1 (APOL1) mRNA and protein expression and clinical parameters in HNSCC. The two most common ty… Show more

“…Consistently, the expression of APOL1, COL5A3, TNFSF13B and CDH5 in tumor tissues was signi cantly higher than adjacent normal tissues. Notably, the result of RT-qPCR and IHC was consistent with our previous results (Figure 13,14).…”

“…APOL1 belongs to the APOL gene family, a minor component of high-density lipoprotein (HDL), which is associated with a variety of cancers. In previous studies, APOL1 was thought to be highly elevated in various cancers (13)(14)(15)(16)). Jiewei Lin et al found that APOL1 was signi cantly up-regulated in pancreatic cancer and was associated with advanced pathological stage, lymph node metastasis and distant metastasis, which could be used as both a prognostic biomarker and a new diagnostic target for pancreatic cancer patients (17).…”

“…After TLR2 expression was extracted from each dataset or study, the standardized mean difference (SMD) was calculated by constructing a forest map [ 18 21 ]. The I 2 statistics was used to assess the heterogeneity of the involved data as previously reported [ 22 , 23 ]. A summary receiver operating characteristic curve (sROC) was generated to check the prospective diagnostic value of TLR2 for MI.…”

“…The primary antibody (rabbit polyclonal antibody of WDHD1, ab224221, Abcam (Cambridge, MA, USA); rabbit monoclonal antibody of ITGAV, ab179475, Abcam) was diluted (Zhong Shan Golden Bridge Biotechnology, Beijing, China) at a ratio of 1 : 100 and then incubated at 37 °C for 70 min. The rest of the steps were performed according to a previously reported procedure [ 13 ]. Staining was assessed under a light microscope, and we used two different methods to assess the IHC results of WDHD1 and ITGAV.…”
