Abstract: Oince the discovery in the late 1950's of imipramine (Tofranil®), the first tricyclic antidepressant (TCA), and iproniazid, the first monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI), many other TCAs and MAOIs, now being considered the classical antidepressants, have become available.
