The clinical characteristics and imaging findings of morning glory syndrome

Abstract: To investigate the features of CT, ultrasonography and fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA) of morning glory syndrome, the data on CT, A/B-scan ultrasonography and fundus fluorescein angiography (FFA) were retrospectively analyzed in 8 cases of morning glory syndrome (MGS). Among those cases, 6 were examined with CT, 4 with FFA and 8 with A/B-scan ultrasonography. Results showed that the characteristics of CT, A/B-scan ultrasonography and FFA in MGS included: (1) The attachment spot of optic nerve became thin … Show more

“…7,15,16 Second, cross-sectional imaging allows for evaluation of the globe in the setting of associated opacities of the refractive media, including persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous, which may mitigate the capacity to make this diagnosis on the basis of the funduscopic examination alone. 17 Finally, these patients may undergo imaging for unrelated clinical issues, and identification of the MGDA at imaging may be the only indicator to search for known associated intracranial abnormalities.…”

“…This distinction is important because of the implications for genetics and family counseling; MGDA is almost universally a sporadic condition whereas optic nerve coloboma is commonly familial and may occur in association with multisystem congenital malformation syndromes. [ 13 14 ] Second, cross-sectional imaging permits for evaluation of the globe in the setting of associated opacities of the refractive media, including persistent hyperplastic primary vitreous, which may alleviate the capacity to make this diagnosis on the basis of the funduscopy examination alone. [ 14 ] Finally, these patients may undergo imaging for unrelated clinical issues, and identification of the MGDA at imaging may be the only indicator to search for known associated intracranial abnormalities.…”

“…Set of functional requirements is the market and customer requirements for the basic functions of the modular set of products; functional unit is the module's functions; function module is the product structure corresponding to the functional unit of product elements; structure module is a functional module of a specific module structure the general structure of the components or sub-modules; module structure of the module interface description in combination with each other geometry, the combination of the physical relationship between surface; module is the basic type design versatility, structural integrity of the structure of a typical zero-module; variations in the base module that type of module, based on changes in demand for specific functional modules derived some structural parameters of the module [2].…”
