“…Four chloroplast regions, including rpoC1 (Chase et al, 2007), rps4 (Nadot et al, 1994;Souza-Chies et al, 1997), trnG (Pacak and Szweykowska-Kulinska, 2000), and trnL-trnF (Taberlet et al, 1991) were selected for exhibiting the appropriate level of polymorphism at the species level in Bryoxiphium. These loci were amplified and sequenced following the protocols of Patiño et al (2015a).…”

“…Double-stranded DNA templates were prepared using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) conditions described in . The trnL region, rps4 gene, and atpB-rbcL spacer were amplified using the primers trnC and trnF (Taberlet et al 1991), rps5 (Nadot et al 1994) and trnas (Cox et al 2000), and atpB1 and rbcL1 (Chiang et al 1998), respectively. Fragments of approximately 450 nucleotides (nt) from the trnL region, 650 nt from the rps4 gene, and 680 nt from the atpB-rbcL spacer were amplified.…”

“…Within Poaceae a single origin of the temperate grasses (Pooideae) is possible (GPWG 2001); however, the taxonomic limits of recently evolved pooid tribes become blurred when many taxa are sampled and analyzed (Soreng and Davis 2000). Phylogenetic analyses based on chloroplast and nuclear DNA sequences have supported the sister relationship of tribes Poeae and Aveneae within the core group of most recently evolved Pooideae (Soreng et al 1990;Nadot et al 1994;Hsiao et al 1995;Catalán et al 1997). However, Soreng and Davis' (2000) study, with the greatest sampling of Poeae-Aveneae taxa, based on combined analysis of chloroplast RFLP data and structural characters, showed intermingling of representatives of the two tribes in the optimal tree.…”
