The chemokine receptor CXCR4 is associated with the staging of gastric cancer

Abstract: Background:CXCR4 is a cognitive receptor for stromal-derived factor-1 (SDF-1) and has been previously shown to be associated with tumor growth and invasion of many cancers. However, its expression and function in gastric cancer has not been well clarified.Materials and Methods:Herein, we studied the expression of CXCR4 on gastric samples from patients with gastric adenocarcinoma in comparison with precancerous lesions by employing qRT-PCR.Results:Our qRT-PCR data show that CXCR4 is highly expressed in tissue s… Show more

“…However, the expression of CCL28 in patients with RA and SLE had not significantly decreased. The serum level of CCL28 was elevated in ulcerative colitis, celiac disease, irritable bowel syndrome, and other autoimmune diseases [15][16][17], indicating that the serum level of CCL28 has great potential to be a biomarker to diagnosis SS. In view of the close relationship between CCL28 and IgA, we analyzed the relationship between serum IgA and CCL28 in patients with SS.…”

“…ere are dozens of chemokines that have been discovered so far, which are categorized into four families: CXC, CC, CX3C, and C. SDF-1 is a stromal cell-derived factor and belongs to the chemokine CXC subfamily. CXCR4 is a specific receptor of SDF-1α, which is involved in tumor growth, invasion, and metastasis [20,21]. e SDF-1α/CXCR4 axis regulates inflammatory responses in diseases such as chronic skin inflammation, osteoarthritis, acute peritonitis, and colon and oral squamous cell carcinoma.…”

“…CXCR4 plays a key role in metastatic homing of tumor cells to organs expressing high level of its ligand SDF-1α [42]. CXCR4/high SDF-1α expression is significantly higher in patients with advanced stages of the disease with the worst prognosis [43]. In the tumor microenvironment under hypoxic condition there is possible mechanism by which cells of a growing tumor are reprogrammed to express the CXCR4 receptor thereby enhancing the metastatic potential of the tumor cells [44].…”
