Child Interest Activity Plan (CIAP): An Implementation Driver to Bridge the Research to Practice Gap in Early Childhood Intervention

“…The CIAP is grounded in adult learning implementation science literature, which suggests that using such a tool decreases the cognitive load required by the user to implement a new procedure and increases the accuracy of the decision-making process required to use new practices. The scaffolding provided by the CIAP flowcharts may help practitioners operationalize evidence-based practices more quickly than training alone until the practices become habit (Alspach, 2017; Wandersman et al, 2012). The use of flowcharts has been effective in many contexts (Grosskinsky et al, 2019; Sugai, 1997) and they allow the user to gain a broader perspective or flow of a process and understand how to break the use of practice characteristics into easily implemented parts.…”
