“…In answers to open‐ended questions, participants admitted to be affected by worry and concern about the future, but they also felt confident in their planning and coping strategies to overcome the uncertainty connected to the pandemic. Consistent with previous studies involving both Muslim and Christian refugees and UIMs (Adedoyin et al, 2016; Ní Raghallaigh, 2011b), a few participants also indicated their religious beliefs as a source of support and strength in uncertain times. With respect to quantitative data, in the present study participants reported a low‐to medium level of intolerance of uncertainty.…”

“…In line with the importance of knowledge about breast cancer and the environment were the strategies the participants suggested in order to disseminate breast cancer knowledge. Overall, participants preferred to receive physical (tangible) breast cancer information that was race specific, and that contained graphics and simple language, without technical jargon, which is uniform across the literature (Adedoyin et al, 2016; Davis, Darby, Moore, Cadet, & Brown, 2017; Silk et al, 2014). The insight provided by the participants can help when targeting efforts and interventions much more precisely and effectively within the African American community (Powell, Bell, Shepperson, & Coaxum, 2008).…”

“…In addition, several studies suggest that greater media mix, intensity, or duration can affect campaign success (Bates, 2010;Clement et al, 2013). In a systematic review of breast cancer screening campaigns, Adedoyin et al, 2016, found that 13 of 17 campaigns that were effective in improving cancer screening rates and knowledge incorporated three types of media channels: print, audio-visual, and channels with multiple media forms. The authors suggest that these findings were consistent with previous work (Champion et al, 2006;Wagner, 1998).…”
