Pertambahan pemukiman di sepanjang aliran sungai (DAS) Sungai Brangkal memicu terjadinya peningkatan polusi, berupa timbal (Pb). Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui tingkat pencemaran air Sungai Brangkal, Mojokerto berdasarkan timbal (Pb) pada tumbuhan (Typha angustifolia, Ipomea aquatica, dan Eichhornia crassipes) sebagai bioindikator pencemaran perairan. Data diambil di 3 stasiun dengan jarak antar stasiun ± 1000 m. Parameter yang diukur yaitu kadar Pb pada tumbuhan dan air sungai meliputi suhu, pH, DO, kekeruhan, dan kecepatan arus. Analisis kadar timbal (Pb) dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Gizi FKM,Unair menggunakan metode (AAS), Pengukuran DO dan kekeruhan dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Ekologi Biologi FMIPA, Unesa, sedangkan pengukuran suhu, pH, dan kecepatan arus dilakukan in situ. Hasil pengukuran timbal (Pb) pada tumbuhan akuatik mengacu pada SNI 7387:2009 sedangkan penilaian terhadap kadar logam Pb dan kualitas air sungai mengacu pada pada PP. No 82 Tahun 2001. Hasil penelitian timbal (Pb) di stasiun I, II, dan III pada tumbuhan T. angustifolia sebesar (0,071, 0,085, dan 0,074) ppm; I. aquatica sebesar (0,018, 0,024, dan 0,017) ppm; dan E. crassipes sebesar (0,073, 0,067, dan 0,081) ppm. Kadar timbal (Pb) pada air Sungai Brangkal pada stasiun I,II 0,002 ppm, dan stasiun III 0,006 ppm memenuhi baku mutu menurut PP No 82 tahun 2001 berkategori baik.

Estuary Porong is part of the east coast of Sidoarjo, East Java, which receives the Lapindo mudflow. Lapindo mudflow into the sea through the Porong river has caused sedimentation and changed the Porong river base substrate morphology so that it affects the organism that live in the estuary, especially macrozoobenthos because of their habitat on the bottom substrate. This study aims to identify the types of macrozoobenthos that live in the waters of Estuary Porong after the Lapindo mudflow. This research was conducted by observation method with sampling at 7 stations in Estuary Porong, Sidoarjo with purposive sampling method. Data collection was carried out at the end of the dry season using the Petersen grab sediment-taking tool. Identification of the types of macrozoobenthos is carried out in the Laboratory of Ecology, Department of Biology FMIPA Universitas Negeri Surabaya to species level. The research parameters measured included water quality, types of macrozoobenthos, Pb metal content in water and macrozoobenthos. Data were analyzed descriptively quantitative and qualitative. The results showed that in Porong estuary, 22 species of macrozoobenthos were found. The dominant and adaptive species to conditions covered by Lapindo mud are Potamocorbula faba, Chironomus sp., Varuna yui, and Mictyris platycheles. There is a relationship between Pb levels in water and Pb levels in macrozoobenthos.

Microbial Fuel Cell (MFC) are the one of utilization of waste for renewable energy continues to be developed. According to the FAO, 32% of all food for human consumption is discarded about 1.3 billion tonnes per year. In this study, Microbial Fuel Cells used an organic source in the form of food waste that had been hydrolyzed by Aspergillus oryzae, Aspergillus aculeatus, and Candida rugosa. The results of the hydrolysis are entered into the MFC system. In the MFC system it is mixed with Sidoarjo mud and Shewanella oneidensis MR-1, then put into a Single Chamber microbial fuel cell (SC-MFC) to generate electricity. In this research, also added micronutrients (Mg2+, Ni2+, Cu2+, Ca2+, Pb2+, Co2+, Cd2+, Cr2+, and Zn2+) to increase the metabolic of Shewanella oneidensis MR-1 bacteria, so can elevate electric currents. electrons and protons are produced by microorganisms by changing organic compounds in the substrate. The results showed that the best power density was 6.652 W/m2 with BOD 89.362% and COD removal 77.273% achieved with a ratio of food waste to water of 2:1 M. Food hydrolysis is capable of hydrolyzing 40% food waste into glucose within 24 hours. The greatest percentage of glucose decreased was achieved by Cobalt micronutrient addition with 77% of glucose decreased. Therefore, MFC can be greatly enhance food waste degradation to become a carbon source in a microbial fuel cell for electricity production.
