The carbon footprint (CF) evaluates the overall amount of greenhouse gas emissions and removals associated with a product or activity across its life cycle. Today, the CF assessment has the potential to be a key measurement for increasing sustainable agricultural production. In addition, the export-oriented fruit sector has been challenged to quantify and reduce their CF. Worldwide there are scant peer-review studies that examine the CF of stone fruits (Prunus genus). The scarcity is most evident in sweet cherries, which is the third most exported stone fruit in the world in terms of value (after almonds and peaches). Chile is the largest southern hemisphere producer and exporter of sweet cherry fruit. Within this context, the present study is one of the first assessments of the CF of conventional sweet cherry production. This work considers Chilean agricultural practices and identifies key influencing factors (hotspots). It takes into account the following agricultural inputs: mineral fertilizers, pesticides, diesel consumption for agricultural operations, machinery, and electricity for irrigation. The results indicate that the average CF of the Chilean sweet cherry production is 0.41 kg CO 2 -eq/kg of harvested fruit, with a 95% confidence interval between 0.36 and 0.47 kg CO 2 -eq/kg. This value is higher than those for other stone fruits reported by the literature. Diesel and fertilizers are the most important contributors to the CF of sweet cherry cultivation. Improvement scenarios are evaluated for the hotspots in order to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from the production of this fruit. This study provides quantitative environmental criteria associated with global warming concerns to the stakeholders in the fruit sector and to the agricultural policymakers.

Nowadays, many industries are focusing on automation in manufacturing for high production and good quality to meet the needs of customers in a short period of time. This trend has produced a forward shift in technology in the form of advancement, which ultimately increases energy demand. For that reason, researchers have started working on sustainable development associated with cleaner-energy policies to avoid increasing energy consumption for enhanced manufacturing technology in developed countries. The other important issue affecting our world is global warming, which is the result of greenhouse gas emissions. That is the reason, renewable energies like solar energy have dramatically increased during recent years to compensate for the energy demand and reduced carbon footprint for cleaner production. This paper considers a supply chain management of automobile part manufacturing industry with suppliers to optimize the production quantity with multiple objectives i.e., minimizing the total cost of production including minimum quantity lubrication is a first objective, reduction of the carbon footprint is the second, and minimizing the cost of energy considering renewable energy is the last objective. This study considers a situation, where imperfect quality items are managed and controlled by the suppliers as outsourcing operations. A weighted goal programming methodology is utilized to solve the proposed mathematical model including sustainable suppliers. Sensitivity analysis of the model is performed for different scenarios with respect to the energy utilization. The optimal result of minimum production cost and carbon emissions is the evidence of successful pragmatic application in automobile industry. The results validate the model to provide the basis for sustainability in supply chain environment considering manufacturer and suppliers.

Carbon footprint (CFP) reflects the greenhouse gases (GHGs) produced by human activities or products throughout the life cycle, which is an important tool for assessing and managing greenhouse gas pollution. The reduction of Carbon footprint is an important topic today, and each of us needs to minimize our CFP in order to protect our planet. In this paper, the basic cotton denim jackets was played an research object roles to exploring the impact on the environment during the process of producing cotton denim jackets. Which based on the theory of industrial carbon footprint and combing with the production process chain of denim jackets, setting the accounting boundaries and functional units, the denim jacket can be divided into cutting, sewing, and finishing the three links in industrial production of carbon footprint. With the calculation and analyzation industrial carbon footprint of the denim jacket. The results show that the carbon footprint of denim jackets exceeds 1000 kg CO2 during the cycle from cutting to sewing and finishing. The largest carbon footprint is generated in the sewing process, which are about twice as high as the cutting process. The carbon footprint emissions of each piece of denim jacket is 1.75 kg CO2. Therefore, optimizing the production line in the sewing process, adopting high energy-efficient processing equipment and clean energy can better reduce the industrial carbon footprint of denim clothing. It also provided reference and basis for the supervision and evaluation of carbon emission by clothing manufacturers
