The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) based m 6 A methylation-related genes predict prognosis in hepatocellular carcinoma

Abstract: The current study aims to investigate the significance of N 6-methyladenosine (m 6 A) methylationrelated genes in the clinical prognosis of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) using bioinformatics analyses based on The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) database. Transcriptome data and corresponding clinical data on m 6 A methylation-related genes (including 15 genes) were obtained from TCGA database. Differential expression of 15 genes was identified. Survival curves of subgroups based on m 6 A methylation-related gene ex… Show more

“…In this study, the FRLS contained 15 ferroptosis-related lncRNAs, several of which have been confirmed to be correlated with tumor progression. For example, SNAI3-AS1 promotes PEG10-mediated proliferation and metastasis by acting as a sponge for miR-27-3p and miR-34a-5p in hepatocellular carcinoma ( Liu J. et al, 2020 ). WDFY3-AS2 suppresses cell proliferation, migration, invasion, and epithelial-to-mesenchymal transition (EMT) via miR-18a/RORA axis in ovarian cancer ( Zhou et al, 2020 ).…”

“…Meanwhile, it was also noted that m6A was distributed differently in mRNA and lncRNA, indicating that m6A modification of lncRNA may be different from mRNA, and its specific mechanism needs to be further studied. 31 METTL3 has been indicated to be upregulated in HCC 32 . while METTL3 and METTL14 hold opposite regulatory roles in HCC.…”

“…YTHDF2 expression is closely associated with HCC malignance, and can be inhibited by miR-145 [152]. YTHDF2, YTHDF1, METTL3, KIAA1429, and ZC3H13 could be a prognostic signature of malignant HCC patients [52,[157][158][159]. The expression of two genes (hnRNPA2B1 and RBM15) are closely related to the TNM stage and metastasis risk and can act as a prognostic indicator for HBV-related HCC patients in the early TNM stage [160].…”
