The calculation-frequency method for fast parabolic-equation modeling at high frequencies

Abstract: This article describes a method for efficient parabolic-equation modeling in the kilohertz frequency range. Computer use may be reduced to less than 1% of that expected with current standard methods by using a reduced calculation frequency but compressional-wave attenuation and boundary losses appropriate to the prediction frequency. Restrictions are discussed. Modeled and measured transmission loss are compared.
