The buckling-condensation mechanism driving gas vesicle collapse

Abstract: Gas vesicles (GVs) are protein shells that perform superbly as ultrasound contrast agents due to their tunable collapse pressure. Here, the roles of condensation and shell buckling in triggering and controlling final GV collapse are examined.
