Introdução: A restauração da dimensão vertical de oclusão é um desafio comum na prática odontológica, especialmente em pacientes com perda parcial ou total de dentes posteriores. A diminuição dessa dimensão pode resultar em uma série de complicações funcionais e estéticas, impactando significativamente na qualidade de vida do paciente. Nesse contexto, a confecção de próteses parciais removíveis provisórias tem sido uma abordagem eficaz para restabelecer a função mastigatória e a estética facial comprometidas. Objetivo: Relatar um caso clínico de sucesso na restauração da dimensão vertical de oclusão por meio da confecção de prótese parcial removível provisória, abordando os desafios e os resultados alcançados. Metodologia: Foi realizado um trabalho de revisão de literatura, com busca em bases de dados (inter)nacionais, para embasar o tratamento de um paciente que apresentava queixas relacionadas à estética facial, desgaste dentário e dificuldades na alimentação. Por meio de exames detalhados, incluindo avaliação extraoral e intraoral, diagnosticou-se a reabsorção óssea, a ausência de dentes posteriores, desgastes e fraturas dentárias, além de desarmonia oclusal e diminuição da dimensão vertical de oclusão. Com base nesse diagnóstico, foi elaborado um planejamento personalizado visando restaurar a função mastigatória e a estética facial comprometidas. Resultados: O tratamento realizado demonstrou sucesso na restauração das funções mastigatórias e na melhora significativa da estética facial. A prótese parcial removível provisória, especialmente adaptada à estrutura dentária remanescente, desempenhou um papel importante na preparação do paciente e do sistema estomatognático para a próxima fase do tratamento reabilitador. Conclusão: Este caso exemplifica a eficácia da prótese parcial removível provisória na restauração da dimensão vertical de oclusão, destacando sua importância na reabilitação oral de pacientes com perda dessa dimensão. Além disso, ressalta a necessidade de abordagens integradas e personalizadas para obter resultados satisfatórios em casos complexos de odontologia restauradora.
