“…Ar-Ar dates have been published as 59.6 ___ 1.6 Ma for G2 and 59.5 +__ 1.6 Ma for G5 (Evans et al 1973). However, new Ar-Ar determinations for G2 and G4 have given substantially lower ages, 54.9+0.6 and 53.3+0.6 Ma respectively (Thompson et al 1987), a value supported by Rb-Sr dates of 56.3-55.7 Ma for granites G1-4 and 51.5+0.9 Ma for G5 (Gibson et al 1987). The reason for the discrepancy between the earlier and later dates is not understood.…”
