The beta-decay of95Rb and97Rb

Abstract: The /~-decay of 377ms 95Rb and 168ms 97Rb has been thoroughly investigated by means of 7-ray, conversion electron and /Ldelayed neutron spectroscopy. More than 97 % of the /~-decay to particle-bound states has been placed in level schemes of 95Sr and 97Sr. High-resolution neutron spectroscopic studies have allowed to extend the knowledge of the excitation spectra up to 9 MeV, respectively 10 MeV. The density of neutron-unbound levels in 95Sr and 97Sr has been derived from peak stripping analyses of the neutron… Show more

“…The analysis of the proposed band members in the frame of the rotational model is shown Table I. For K=3/2, the E2/MI mixing ratio for the 102.0 keV transition from the 687.1 keV level to the band head which has been deduced from the intraband ~-intensities, agrees very well with the experimental one from the conversion coefficient [3]. Also the moment of inertia of 80~ of the rigid rotor value fits well into the systematics in the A=IO0 region.…”

“…With this interpretation, the isomeric character (t~/2=170 ns) of the g7/2 state at 308 keV results from the E2 deexcitation to the first excited level with a transition rate close to the single-particle value, and is not associated with the ~ [404 9/2] intruder as proposed in [10]. Thus, the lowest levels of 97Sr have spherical character. In contrast, the levels at 585.1 and 687.1 keV [3] together with the new level at 822.4 keV (see Fig. 1) are proposed to form a rotational band.…”
