The Auxiliary Table for GFR Estimation According to the MDRD Formula

Abstract: The best overall index of renal function is considered to be glomerular filtration rate (GFR) and the gold standard for its assessment is renal inulin clearance (Cin) Unfortunately, Cin cannot be routinely used in daily practice due to its complexity as a test. The most often used ones are the Cockcroft-Gault (CG) formula and the recently developed Modification of Diet in Renal Disease (MDRD) prediction equation. Calculation of MDRD (estimated GFR) according to this formula is simple but it requires a computer… Show more

“…Biologic data were recorded in CKD patients: Serum creatinine was measured by a colorimetric method, and the simplified MDRD formula was used for the estimation of GFR 33. Intact parathyroid hormone (PTH) was measured with a second‐generation assay (Roche Elecsys, Roche Diagnosis, Mannheim, Germany; normal 15 to 65 pg/mL) and 25‐hydroxyvitamin D [25(OH)D] with a radioimmunologic assay (DIASORIN‐RIA, Diasorin Diagnosis, Saluggia, Italy; normal 12 to 40 ng/mL).…”

“…Biologic data were recorded in CKD patients: Serum creatinine was measured by a colorimetric method, and the simplified MDRD formula was used for the estimation of GFR. (33) Normal values for serum CTX were the following according to age and gender: 300 AE 142 pg/mL in men aged 30 to 50 years, 304 AE 200 pg/mL in men aged 60 to 70 years, 394 AE 230 pg/mL in men older than 70 years, 299 AE 137 pg/mL in premenopausal women, and 556 AE 226 pg/mL in postmenopausal women. Normal values for NMID osteocalcin were the following according to age and gender: 24 to 70 ng/mL in men aged 18 to 30 years, 14 to 42 ng/mL in men aged 30 to 50 years, 14 to 46 ng/mL in men older than 50 years, 11 to 43 ng/mL in premenopausal women, and 15 to 46 ng/mL in postmenopausal women.…”

“…24 The filtered glucose load (FL) was calculated as the product of eGFR and mean serum glucose concentrations, and the renal (tubular) glucose reabsorption rate (TG) was calculated as TG = FL − ER. 24 The filtered glucose load (FL) was calculated as the product of eGFR and mean serum glucose concentrations, and the renal (tubular) glucose reabsorption rate (TG) was calculated as TG = FL − ER.…”

“…The eGFR (ml/min/1.73 m 2 ) of the subjects was calculated as 186.3 × serum creatinine −1.154 × age −0.203 × 1.212 (for African-American subjects) × 0.742 (for female subjects), based on the auxiliary table for GFR estimation in accordance with the Modification of Diet in Renal Disease equation. 24 The filtered glucose load (FL) was calculated as the product of eGFR and mean serum glucose concentrations, and the renal (tubular) glucose reabsorption rate (TG) was calculated as TG = FL − ER. Urine samples were collected over a 24-h period on days −1, 1, and 14 to assess the rate and total amount of urinary glucose excreted (measured at 4-h intervals).…”

“…The necessity of identifying individual cardiac event/death risk of ACS patients is accepted worldwide and consequently many risk scoring systems have been developed by investigators (10,11). The most wellknown of these; Thrombosis In Myocardial Infarction (TIMI), Platelet glycoprotein IIb/IIIa in Unstable Angina: Receptor Suppression Using Integrilin Therapy (PURSUIT) and Fast Revascularisation in Instability in Coronary (FRISC) disease scoring systems; separate patients into low-medium-high risk groups according to qualitative assessment (12)(13)(14).…”
