The AUGMENT precompiler as a tool for the development of special purpose arithmetic packages

In particular , the use of the FORTRAN preco.-piler , AUGMENT , renders the source code more lucid , red uces the rnaber of lines of code in a nonstandard arithmetic package , facilitates modification , and amel iorates the problems of transp orting such a package to another host system.
