“…Considerando a situação em países em desenvolvimento, como no México por exemplo, o custo de um episódio de ICS em pacientes internados em UTIs foi de US$ 11, 591 e, seis dias de permanência extra no hospital (COMPTE-VILAR; CAMACHO; PONCE-DE-LEON et al, 2017), como foi observado em nossa investigação (6 dias).Ao nosso conhecimento, no Brasil este tipo de infecção acarreta uma internação extra de 23,63 dias, com um custo de US$ 9,843.35 ou seja, um custo médio diário quando comparado ao dos controles de US$ 334,6/dia. Em estudo multicêntrico prospectivo realizado por(SALOMÃO et al, 2006;SOGAYAR et al, 2008) mostrou que o custo diário por paciente com ICS foi superior a US$ 934,00, incluindo pacientes admitidos tanto em hospital público quanto privado, com um tempo de permanência hospitalar semelhante, respectivamente, de dez e nove dias, concluindo que, o custo de tratamento deste paciente é elevado. De acordo com o Brazilian Healthcare Database, (BRASIL, 2017) com um tempo médio de internação de 12,1 dias o custo médio da diária é de aproximadamente US$ 600,00.…”
