The asymmetry and orientation dependence ofc-slip in tellurium

Abstract: Simple shear experiments are used to study the low temperature c-slip of tellurium single crystals. The temperature dependence of the yield parameters, i.e. the yield stress and the activation volume, is measured from 7°K t o room temperature without any activated aslip. High voltage electron microscopy and X-ray Berg-Barrett topography show that an homogene'bus distribution of long straight parallel c-screws is left in the crystal after low temperature deformation without noticeable polygonisation.
