The Association between Modifiable Lifestyle Behaviors and Depression among Asian Americans with Chronic Hepatitis B by Medication Status

Abstract: Asian Americans are disproportionately affected by chronic hepatitis B (CHB), with incidence and mortality rates well above those experienced by non-Hispanic white populations. “…The reasons are likely twofold. On the one hand, more than one-third of HBV and HCV patients suffer from depression, [37][38][39] and depression leads to drug reduction or treatment interruption, resulting in failure of antiviral therapy. 40,41 Moreover, depression is also a risk factor for liver cancer.…”

“…Except for the Chi-square test for gender, a two-sample T -test was employed to compare the average values between sensorineural tinnitus sufferers and healthy controls in this study's examination of sample characteristics and clinical evaluation [ 36 ]. Before statistical analysis of collected fNIRS data, the data must first go through a series of pretreatments, which include deleting unrelated intervals from the experiment, eliminating artifacts that have nothing to do with the experimental data, and filtering the data with low-pass and high-pass filters, and finally calculating the ultimate oxygenated hemoglobin concentration data using blood oxygen [ 37 ].…”

“…Despite growing public health efforts in viral hepatitis and liver cancer prevention, vaccination, and treatment services, the burden of HBV and HCV is still much heavier in racial/ethnic minorities [15][16][17][18]. Structural barriers to healthcare services, systemic racism and discrimination, as well as inequities in society and individual level social determinants of health contributed to the considerable disparities in viral hepatitis infection, exposure, immunity, and mortality [6,[19][20][21][22].…”
