Abstract: SUMMARYAbnormalities of coagulation and the fibrinolytic system leading to a hypercoagulable state could lead to accelerated atherogenesis. The abnormalities of haemostasis and resulting ischaemic cerebrovascular disease may contribute to cognitive decline in the elderly.
