BackgroundRelative deprivation is one of the factors that influences the development of personality and behavior. However, it is still unclear whether and how relative deprivation decreases the prosocial behavior in adolescents. This study aimed to examine the association between relative deprivation and adolescent prosocial behavior and the role of emotion regulation strategies and empathy in modifying this association.MethodsThe present study included 609 secondary school students (M = 15.42 years, SD = 0.653) in Fujian Province, China. All participants completed the Relative Deprivation Questionnaire, Emotion Regulation Scale, the Basic Empathy Scale, and Prosocial Behavior Scale. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS 25.0 and Mplus 7.4.ResultsRelative deprivation was negatively correlated with cognitive reappraisal, but positively correlated with expressive suppression. Cognitive reappraisal was positively correlated with empathy and prosocial behavior, but expressive suppression was not. Empathy was positively correlated with prosocial behavior. Relative deprivation decreased prosocial behavior through (a) cognitive reappraisal, (b) empathy, and (c) chain mediation of cognitive reappraisal and empathy. No significant mediating effect of expressive suppression was found.ConclusionThe results indicate that relative deprivation decreases adolescent prosocial behavior, and that cognitive reappraisal and empathy are the potential psychological mechanisms that affect the association between relative deprivation and adolescent prosocial behavior.

Kemandirian seorang anak dipengaruhi oleh peran keluarga, terutama ibu yang berperan sebagai madrasah pertama mereka. Karena keterikatan yang terbentuk memberi anak rasa nyaman dan perlindungan serta menawarkan landasan yang aman untuk menjelajahi dunia, hal itu berfungsi sebagai standar untuk mencapai pertumbuhan yang diharapkan, termasuk perkembangan kemandirian. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengkaji secara teoritis bagaimana kemandirian anak usia dini dipengaruhi oleh secure attachment seorang ibu. Metode penelitian ini adalah literature riview, untuk melakukan tinjauan literatur, peneliti membaca, menganalisis, dan mengembangkan kesimpulan. Hasil dari kajian literatur yaitu secure attachment ibu berpengaruh positif terhadap kemandirian anak karena anak yang memiliki secure attachment akan memiliki kemampuan sosial yang baik sehingga mampu menjalin interaksi dengan lingkungannya, hal ini membuat anak menyelesaikan tugas dan tidak mudah berputus asa karena secara otomatis mendapatkan dukungan dari lingkungannya, oleh karena itu dibutuhkanlah perasan ibu untuk memberikan secure attachment dengan bersikap lebih responsif dan memberi dukungan agar anak bisa lebih mandiri.

The crisis of oxygen availability that occurred during the COVID-19 pandemic created a sense of empathy for a group of communities and the general public who are interconnected with technological sophistication. The development of technology that is growing [1] and without limits, brings every individual to be able to carry out various activities and interactions without having to carry out face-to-face or what is called virtual. The purpose of this study is to find out more about the ways and purposes of virtual organizations via Telegram after the COVID-19 pandemic. This research was conducted using a qualitative method using a netnographic approach, observation and documentation data collection techniques in the Telegram group with 2,216 active members and will be analyzed in depth through data reduction, display data and drawing conclusions. The results of the study stated that empathy can appear through a virtual telegram organ called the "Jogja Oxygen Community" group. This is evidenced by several forms of empathy, including: firstly, providing information about oxygen cylinders in the Yogyakarta area, secondly, offering assistance and mutual support among members. The group, even though it is virtual, the three provide solutions to each other if there are difficulties related to oxygen cylinder information, finally reminding and taking care of each other if something is not in accordance with the group's provisions.
