Abstract:Microorganisms of Beggiatoa, or a closely related group, have been found to be the cause of an apparent precipitate of sulfur occurring in commercial limesulfur concentrates, making the whole mass of the consistency of thin ketchup. Some data regarding this thickened lime-sulfur is given. The further study of the microorganisms, their iden-tification, the sources of infection, and means of prevention are being investigated.
