The application of trust region method to estimate the parameters of photovoltaic modules through the use of single and double exponential models

Abstract: This paper presents a methodology for the extraction of parameters of photovoltaic (PV) modules through the use of electric models with single and double exponentials. The aim of the proposed method was extract the parameters directly from measured curves applying the Trust Region Method to solve a system of equations f(x i ). The variables x i are the photocurrent (I ph ), the reverse saturation current (I o ), the ideality factor (A i ), series resistance (R s ) and the shunt resistance (R sh ). The validati… Show more

“…Comparing the results obtained in this article with those from [1], the parameters Iph (photogenerated current), m (diode ideality factor) and Rsh (parallel resistance) approximated to those found by that author. The parameters Id (diode reverse current) and Rs (series resistance) diverged considerably, as shown in Table VI.…”

“…A number of applications of trust region algorithms in power systems have been reported. [24][25][26] Meng et al 27 developed a trust region-based method for the transportation network constrained optimization problem. Jagersand 28 presented an algorithm for visual servoing that is capable of learning the robot kinematics and camera calibration using a trust region method.…”

“…The procedure followed with the particular methodology in this work is described in Chapter 4. The method is analysed and validated in [48] providing statistical analysis of errors from the I-V curves obtained in a way to assess the feasibility of the method. The characteristic of the panel tested is stated in Table 2.1.…”
