The Apache Point Observatory Catalog of Optical Diffuse Interstellar Bands

Abstract: Aiming for a new and more comprehensive DIB catalog between 4,000 and 9,000Å, we revisited the Atlas Catalog based on the observations of HD 183143 and HD 204827 (Hobbs et al. 2008 and). Twenty-five medium-to-highly reddened sight lines were selected, sampling a variety of spectral types of the background star and the interstellar environments. The median SNR of these spectra is ~ 1,300 around 6,400Å. Compared to the Atlas Catalog, 22 new DIBs were found, and the boundaries of 27 (sets) of DIBs were adjusted… Show more

“…As quoted in OBT19, 168 DIBs are tentatively detected only in HD 183143 and 107 in HD 204827 as reported by Hobbs et al (2009Hobbs et al ( , 2008. We here retain only those confirmed in the recent Apache Point catalogue of Fan et al 2019, that is, 150 in HD 183143 and 91 in HD 204827. Their overwhelming presence at short wavelength in HD 204827 (89% at λ < 6200 Å) and at long wavelength in HD 183143 (65% at λ > 6500 Å) additionally supports the correlation of the ratio R 21 with λ and therefore the λ/UV correlation.…”
