The Antigenicity of Human Chorionic Somato-Mammotrophin and Human Growth Hormone in the Rhesus Monkey (Macaca Mulatta)

Abstract

Immunization of nine rhesus monkeys with human chorionic somatomammotrophin (HCSM) consistently produced high-titre monospecific antisera that did not cross-react with the related antigen, human growth hormone (HGH). However, two monkeys immunized with HGH developed lower-titre antisera that cross-reacted with HCSM. By contrast, rabbits and goats did not discriminate to any great extent between HCSM and HGH.
