“…In common with most of the other members of the series, ammonium ferrous Tutton salt has been studied by a variety of physical methods. They include for this instance specific heat (Hill & Smith, 1953;Gill & Ivey, 1974), inelastic neutron scattering (Svare & Otnes, 1983), far IR magnetic resonance (Doerfler, Allan, Davis, Pidgeon & Vass, 1986), magnetic susceptibility (Ohtuska, Abe & Kanda, 1957;Richardson & Sapp, 1958;Sapp, 1959;Figgis, Lewis, Mabbs & Webb, 1967;Gerloch, Lewis, Phillips & Quested, 1970;Gregson & Mitra, 1972) and M6ssbauer spectroscopy (Ingalls, Ono & Chandler, 1968;Gibb, 1974;Merrithew & Guerrara, 1974;Doerfler, Leupold, Nagy, Ritter, Spiering & Zimmermann, 1983). The results of many of these measurements have been accounted for by a crystal-field-based theory (Doerfler, 1987).…”
