Based on the data of 28 European countries for 2013–2018, using the panel regression, we studied the influence of the consumption index growth by the purchasing power parity and unemployment among the active population on the structural units of DESI. It is shown that a 1% increase in the consumption index results in about 0.2 increase in the DESI, and an increase in unemployment by 1% leads… Show more

“…Otioma et al analyzed the difference of digital economy development in Kigali from a macro-spatial level [13]. Stavytskyy et al used the digital economic and social index to study the effects of purchasing power parity and unemployment on consumption index growth in 28 European countries, from 2013 to 2018 [14]. Mirolyubova et al noted that a digital economy development system should be built from the following indicators, namely, the cost of ICT, the number and share of employment in the digital economy, the quantity and share of digital production in the economy, the digital workforce, and digital productivity [15].…”

“…The DESI indicator and its sub-indicators not only provide an opportunity to assess the current state of play but also to compare the achieved position of the economy in relation to others in the EU. Studies in this regard, included in the form of time series, also allow us to determine the dynamics and directions of change, and on the basis of them to formulate assessments of these changes in the development of the economy and digital society of individual EU countries, their groups/clusters or the European Union as a whole [90][91][92][93][94][95]. Finally, research efforts illustrate whether (or not) progress is being made towards a Digital Single Market as a consequence of the existing digital convergence (divergence) between EU countries in the light of economic development policies and the digital society [96].…”

“…Indeed, the UN E-government Development Index is signifi cantly driven by dimensions related to ICT infrastructure rather than factors measuring the outcomes of government digitalization (Alkhatri et al 2017). As confi rmed by some recent quantitative research, about 98 percent of the DESI rating, for instance, is determined by the past trends (Stavytskyy et al 2019).…”
